Massive Fire in Delhi’s Palam Claims 9 Lives, Several Injured
Nine people lost their lives in a massive fire in Sadh Nagar, Palam, on Wednesday morning. The fire broke out in a multi-story building, trapping 15 members of a single family. Reports indicate that nine people were burned to death and four to five others injured. Three children were among the deceased. Delhi Police, fire brigade, and ambulance vehicles were present at the scene. Thirty fire engines were dispatched immediately after the department received the information at 7 a.m.
The fire was so fierce that pictures of it are rapidly going viral on social media. In these photos, you can see how the thick smoke billowed into the sky, creating a terrifying scene.
Following this incident, Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu held his first meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, directing a citywide fire safety audit. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Chief Secretary Rajiv Verma, and several other officials from the Delhi Police were present at the meeting.
